Day 6: Random Picture that makes you happy

Hey, it said Random. This is the first bulletin board I ever made. It was for a Science unit on Plants that I did with the Kindergarteners. I miss teaching. I think of my students often. All those smiling little faces! Maybe I'll go back to it one day, but I know that won't be any time soon.

Day 5: Song that means something to you

I chose our wedding song, the first song that we danced to as husband and wife. It is "Feels Like Home" by Chantal Kreviazuk. Other artists have sung the same song, but we used her version. You can listen to it here. I have to thank Lauren Turner from Biola University for introducing me to this song.

"Feels Like Home"
Something in your eyes
Makes me want to lose myself
Makes me want to lose myself
In your arms
There's something in your voice
Makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling lasts
The rest of my life
If you knew how lonely my life has been
And how long I've felt so low
If you knew how I wanted someone to come along
And change my life the way you've done

Chorus: Feels like home to me
Feels like home to me
Feels like I'm all the way back where
I come from
Feels like home to me
Feels like home to me
Feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

A window breaks down a long dark street
And a siren wails in the night
But I'm alright 'cause I have you here with me
And I can almost see through the dark there's light

If you knew how much this moment means to me
And how long I've waited for your touch
If you knew how happy you are making me
I've never thought I'd love anyone so much

Chorus

Feels like I'm all the way back where I belong

Day 4: A weird hobby or collection

I took the day off for Easter. Matt is on business and I was trying to cook the Easter dinner for the Phipps family and us while taking care of a very cranky Emma. Naps were in order for everyone! Anyways, I don't know that I really have a weird collection or hobby. I have many half used skeins/balls of yarn in my craft room if that counts as a collection. My husband collects keychains. He doesn't even use most of them. They just sit there in a bag unless I try to sneak one of them away, like one of the cool ones we got in Alaska. What good is a keychain without keys?!?!

Day 3: Photos From your Wedding

I can't believe it has been 5 years since we married. Here are a few pictures from our day.

My handsome hubby and I.

Dancing with Daddy
We did it!
Marrying Matt is probably one of the best decisions I have ever made. It has been filled with joy and laughter and has definitely been worth the hard work. Love you babe!

30 Day Challenge, Day 2

Day 2: Take a photo of a random part of your day and tell us about it

One of my favorite times of the day: Feeding Emma dinner. The girl can eat! She'll eat almost anything.
Some of the things she loves : Mandarin oranges (or any fruit for that matter), raviolis, cheese, yogurt, pancakes, scrambled eggs, and graham crackers.

Some things she'd rather not eat: Beets, Garbanzo Beans, and Peas (I don't blame her)

30 day Challenge

I have seen this on a few other blogs recently and figured I might as well try it out. So here we go.
Day 1: The meaning behind your blog name
--- Well, that is pretty easy. We started this blog after we found out that I was pregnant with Emma. It was a good way to keep friends and family updated on daily life, especially after we moved from California to Indiana. At that time she was going to be the youngest Lomicka, so that's how we got the name of the blog.
Here is Emma a few days after she was born.

And here she is now, on her first birthday!

Day 2: Take a photo of a random part of your day and tell us about it
Day 3: Photos from your wedding
Day 4: A weird hobby or collection

Eating With Emma

Emma is a pretty funny kid. She likes to make faces and will mimic faces you make at her. It is pretty easy to make her smile. I am so thankful for her sweet smile.

The Big Day

Well, it finally happened. Emma's 1st birthday arrived. We had fun with friends and family, eating snacks and cake and opening presents.

Emma loves the new talking Elmo toy that Grandma and Papa send to her. It's been a big help in the car, which Emma pretty much hates. Whoever said that babies love their carseats were big, fat liars.

She played with friends. Josiah is a big fan of her stacking blocks.
Our little family. She's such a ham.

Emma was a big fan of the cupcake, but not such a fan of the frosting. Once I finally took the frosting off for her she ate the entire thing!
2 days and many hours later, Emma's cake was finished. It's a little bit hard to tell, but that's actually a large leaf that the ladybug is sitting on. The leaf was 2 layers of yellow cake with raspberry filling covered in vanilla/almond buttercream. The ladybug was red velvet cake covered in fondant. It was the first of many cakes that I'm sure I'll be making for Emma's birthdays.
